Honda has been manufacturing quality vehicles for decades, and the Civic is no exception. For 2018, they've yet again out outdone themselves with the new Civic. It's been said to be the finest sedan in its class for the year so far! Still, you may be unsure as to which trim style will best fit your needs. Both the EX and the LX are fantastic options, though they have some key differences. Let's compare them side-by-side and see how they stack up!

Performance

Performance wise, the 2018 Civic may just be one of the most impressive sedans on the road. The LX comes standardly equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a manual or automatic transmission, LED running lights, and 16-inch wheels. It drives confidently and is highly responsive to the touch of its driver. The 2018 EX starts with a similar build to the LX, but then adds a standard continuously variable transmission that's available in an automatic variety. It also comes available as a hatchback. It provides a smooth ride, and acceleration is absolutely not an issue with the EX. You won't have a single problem getting up to speed on the interstate with this Civic. It also has turbocharged options available and is very enjoyable to drive.

Interior and Features

Both of these Civics come with a variety of great features. The LX provides drivers with a good value and has many standard features even in the lowest package. LED running lights, rear folding seats, climate control, a 5-inch central display system, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a four-speaker audio system all come available with this trim level. he EX steps it up a couple of notches with all of the previously listed features of the LX, plus the addition of a sunroof, heated side mirrors, a center armrest with cupholders, an eight-speaker audio system, dual USB ports, keyless ignition and remote start, a 7-inch touchscreen interface system, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and app-based navigation! If you step things up to the EX-T, you'll get even more. This is where that turbocharged engine comes in, with other upgrades like 17-inch wheels and heated seats.

Safety

All Civics have impressive safety ratings. While the LX is a safe vehicle, the EX has more safety features. Its blind-spot monitoring cameras have been given better guidelines for 2018, and the LaneWatch assist system has also seen some impressive updates. New dynamic guidelines make these digital driver aid systems more helpful than ever. In addition to all of the driver assistance features, the Honda EX has been earning "Superior" IIHS safety ratings for years. It's safe to say that the 2018 models will receive the same impressive ratings, as they integrate more safety features than ever before.
