Following a hiatus of two years, Honda is finally ready to reintroduce its highly popular Ridgeline truck for the 2017 model year. Unlike its predecessor the 2017 Ridgeline features styling that is more reminiscent of a traditional pickup truck. While the 2017 model still features a unibody platform, the new design is no longer a cross between a pickup truck and an SUV. This new design ensures that the 2017 Honda Ridgeline provides stiff competition to other vehicles in its class such as the Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, and Nissan Frontier.

Design
The new design features a bed that is a full 5 feet wide and five feet four inches long. There is a full 48 inches between the wheel wells, offering plenty of room for a full sheet of plywood or sheetrock. The 2017 Ridgeline still features an in-bed trunk and the dual-action tailgate found in previous models with hinges on the left side and the bottom. The trunk is still located under the bed at the rear, but now features a convenient drain plug. This year buyers are able to choose a bed that features a built-in 400 watt AC inverter that has enough power to charge cordless tool batteries or handle a range of tailgating entertainment systems. It can also be ordered with the first in-bed audio system in the world and eight tie down cleats capable of handling 350 pounds load each. The audio system features a total of six "exciters" in place of standard speakers.
Performance
Previous models of the Ridgeline were only available in all-wheel drive. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is offered in both two and all-wheel drive versions. Power comes in the form of a 3.5 liter V6 that is expected to deliver 280 horsepower and a full 245 lb-ft of load hauling torque. While official towing capabilities have yet to be solidified, Honda expects this number to be 1,600 pounds, significantly higher than the Colorado which can only tow up to 1,570 pounds. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a brand new six-speed transmission connected to either the front wheels or via the i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system. This system offers drivers a range of terrain matching settings including; Normal, Sand, Mud, and Snow for optimum traction in all driving conditions. While actual fuel consumption ratings have yet to be released, Honda has stated they expect the numbers to put the 2017 Ridgeline at the top of its class.
Interior
Thanks to the redesign, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline now has the most interior room in its class. Among the many available options are leather upholstery, push button starting, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a color meter display mounted in the instrument panel. The Ridgeline features an extra-large 8-inch infotainment system that has been designed to work and play well with both Android Auto and the Apple Car Play software. This audio system is rated at a full 540 watts of power output for your listening pleasure. Despite the powerful audio system, the 2017 Ridgeline has one of the quietest interior in its class. The rear seat offers a 60/40 split that lets you create even more storage space.
Safety
The 2017 Honda Ridgeline features a wide range of the latest safety systems including the Honda Sensing Suite. This suite includes lane departure warning and lane keeping assistance, road departure prevention assist, and forward collision warning and mitigation assist. Upper trim levels come with a rearview camera, blind spot monitors and the Honda LaneWatch system that used the center screen to provide you with a live picture of the right side of the vehicle when you activate the right turn signal.
