Even as a subcompact vehicle with two seats, the 2015 Honda CR-Z offers plenty of room. A passenger volume of 49.1 cubic feet and cargo volume of 25.1 cubic feet means that there’s enough room for a pair of adult passengers and their belongings. The mesh sport seats, accompanied by reclining front seatbacks, are designed to be very comfortable. And the modern cabin design provides a calming environment for any driver or passenger in the vehicle.
Performance
The 2015 Honda CR-Z gets swift acceleration from its hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 1.5-liter i-VTEC 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine, electric motor, and lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output of the drivetrain is 130 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 140 foot-pounds (lb-ft) of torque at up to 2,000 RPM with the standard six-speed manual transmission and 127 lb-ft of torque at up to 3,000 RPM with the optional continuously variable transmission (CVT). Included is the three-mode drive system, which consists of Normal, Plus Sport System, and Eco Assist System modes. The aforementioned attributes enable the 2015 CR-Z to provide an excellent fuel economy of up to 36 mpg city and 39 mpg on the highway*.
Features
For listening to your favorite music or radio station, Honda provides the CR-Z with a six-speaker 160-watt stereo system, which includes Radio Data System (RDS), MP3 and WMA playback with its CD player, and USB and auxiliary interfaces for mobile devices. The EX model gets a seven-speaker 360-watt system instead, and it comes with Pandora radio compatibility and Bluetooth® streaming audio technology if you add the optional satellite-linked navigation system. For comfort and convenience, the 2015 Honda CR-Z gets Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® phone system, automatic climate control for setting the perfect temperature, illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls, three beverage holders, and an expansive multi-information display, among other features. The EX enjoys a few more touches, such as leather wrapping on the steering wheel, aluminum trim on the leather shift knob, ambient console lighting, and polished interior accents.
Safety
The 2015 Honda CR-Z has three types of air bags for collisions: dual multiple-threshold driver and front passenger air bags, dual SmartVent front side air bags, and dual side curtain air bags to cut down the likelihood of head and neck injuries in particular. Regarding active safety features, Honda adds Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control system for establishing control in the event of skidding, rearview camera for assistance when reversing the vehicle, and anti-lock braking (ABS) for preventing wheel lock-up. And to keep away thieves, Honda arms the CR-Z with an electronic security system with a panic alarm and engine ignition immobilizer.
