Performance
Standard on the base trim is a 2.4L, 4-cylinder engine that cranks out 185 horsepower. You can choose a more powerful 3.5L V6 if you wish. Transmission is either 6-speed manual or continuously variable automatic. The Sport model has the same basic powertrain as the base trim but the engine is slightly more powerful. The redesigned suspension system with its MacPherson struts is a definite improvement over the previous model year offerings with their double-wishbone setup. Acceleration is very nice, with great response from the gears. You'll go from zero to 60 mph in less than six seconds if you choose the V6 engine.
Interior
If you've driven an Accord in the past, you know how roomy it is. Nothing has changed for 2016. The cabin is one of the most spacious in this vehicle segment, and the materials quality is above average. The rear seats are 60/40 split-folding, and there is a total of 13 cubic feet of trunk volume. The instrument cluster is simple in design, with no confusing icons or bright lights. Standard features include dual-zone air conditioning, auxiliary power outlets, and an upgraded electric power steering system that is better than what was offered last year. The 2016 Honda Accord is not exactly a high-tech lover's dream, but it does come with many standard features that most owners will consider necessary. Bluetooth is included, as is a new touchscreen that is completely programmable. The 8-inch i-MID display is easy to navigate, and even the base model comes with a rearview camera. The driver display has text capability as well as Pandora streaming audio. If you go for the uplevel trims, you can add on the Aha Internet streaming feature as well.
Safety
Every new 2016 Honda Accord comes with a complete set of front and side-curtain airbags, a rearview camera, and a full set of anchors and tethers for securing child safety seats. The uplevel trims can be purchased with the latest driver awareness features. If you like the newly designed sensor systems found on most luxury cars, you'll be delighted to know that just about all of them can be added on when you choose the EX, EX-L, or Touring trims. These include the Honda Sensing array with its blind spot display. The Accord scores high in overall crash protection, and the included safety systems have crash notification and roadside assistance.
