One GIANT step for Ryan's Quest
Hamilton, NJ May 19, 2010- Ryan's Quest is happy to announce their most profitable fund raiser since the inception of the organization. NFL Pro-bowler and former NY Giant, Jessie Armstead along with co-owner of Hamilton Honda, Michael Saporito sponsored this knock-out event held last month at the Mercer Oaks Golf course in West Windsor, NJ. Each of the two courses were filled with golfers excited for the day's events. Two hundred twenty guests not only played an amazing round; but also the had opportunity to meet, take pictures with and receive autographs from several former and current NFL players including NY Giants; Jessie Armstead, Antonio Pierce, Rodney Hampton, Jonathan Goff, Chase Blackburn, Bryan Kehl and Philadelphia Eagle, Jeremiah Trotter,.
Following the day on the greens, was a dinner reception as well as a live and silent auction that would most certainly never be forgotten. Attendants enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres. and live entertainment by Edgar & Friends. Speeches were given by Ryan's parents, Maria & David Schultz, along with his grandfather, Pasquale Locane, on behalf of Ryan and Ryan's Quest to raise awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy. A video slideshow was also shown highlighting the growth and efforts of the organization since its establishment in March of 2008. Perhaps the most heartwarming and exciting highlight was the announcement at the very end of the video stating that over a half of a million dollars has been raised by Ryan's Quest to help fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The silent and live auctions proved to be a huge success, especially when Jessie Armstead got involved and ran the show! Moved by the speeches given on behalf of Ryan and the thousands of other boys affected by DMD all around the world, Jessie moved the crowd to make some money. Jeremiah Trotter and Eli Manning autographed memorabilia and two sets of Coaches Club NY Giants tickets were auctioned off, getting the crowd pumped up and raising thousands of dollars for the cause!
With the support and generosity of all of the sponsors, golfers, an outstanding committee, and of course the official event sponsors, Jessie Armstead, Michael Saporito, & Hamilton Honda, and all of the NFL players, Ryan's Quest raised over $50,000 for research! Thank you so much to everyone involved from Ryan's Quest and from all the other young men and families who are affected by this disease.
